Education - MCC Public Policy

Investing in a Quality Education for All

Parents have a fundamental right to determine and select schools (public, private, religious, or home) that meet the needs of their children.
Government should provide sufficient financial assistance so that parents can exercise their fundamental right to select schooling that meets the needs of their children and that is in accord with their convictions.

Federal and state education programs should be equitably available to all children.
Laws should not discriminate between public and private school students in eligibility for education, school safety and health programs. Tuition for higher education should be available at resident rates to resident non-citizens who were brought into the country as children.

Public schools should permit the right to the free exercise of religion by students.
State law should allow a moment of silence during the school day so that students may reflect or pray privately. Local public school districts should allow students to attend religious programs and services during the school day without penalty. Class curricula should acknowledge the impact of religion on history, literature and the arts.
