Medicaid

Medicaid Resources

On this page you will find links to information on Medicaid — the joint federal-state program that provides health coverage to over 870,000 Missouri citizens. At the present time, the Missouri General Assembly is considering how to reform Medicaid and possibly expand it to cover more uninsured Missourians,

Medicaid provides health coverage to pregnant women, children, low-income parents, people with disabilities and the elderly. Even middle class families often rely on Medicaid when an elderly parent enters a nursing home and their life savings become depleted.

Catholic teaching declares that access to health care is a basic human right. However, this same teaching indicates that people have some responsibility for their own health care and the health care of their families. In seeking to uphold these principles, the Missouri Catholic Conference has supported legislation that will both reform and expand the Medicaid program.

  1. My husband is Lutheran but I am Catholic, thus the reason I am reaching out to you. May, 2016 my husband had two strokes which has left him with right side neglect. He is able to feed himself and also to go to the bathroom by himself. I have been caring for him since August, 2017.
He is 81 years old and I am 82 years old. I have had two congestive heart episodes and have a pacemaker.
The care of my husband is affecting my health and I am needing to find help to begin the process of determining if my husband is eligible for a Medicaid bed in a Catholic facility.
