Cardinal DiNardo Calls for Audience with Pope Francis to Discuss Action Plan on Bishop Accountability

This week, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), reiterated his request to obtain an audience with Pope Francis in order to move forward with investigating alleged failures of the hierarchy to address sexual abuse within the U.S. Church, and to address the failure of leadership to sanction Archbishop McCarrick. Cardinal DiNardo expressed his desire to investigate allegations and to establish a protocol in cooperation with an independent lay committee for accepting and handling complaints made against bishops.
