The bishops’ Fortnight for Freedom – a 14-day period of prayer and fasting on behalf of religious liberty – gets under way Thursday with a Mass in Baltimore, America’s first Catholic diocese. It will be the evening vigil of the feast day of St. Thomas More, who suffered martyrdom at the hands of King Henry VIII because of his refusal to acknowledge Henry as the Supreme Head of the Church. The Fortnight for Freedom will culminate in a closing mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Even the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting on the events planned by the Church during this special two-week period. Click here for more.
