Governor Parson Signs 15 Bills Into Law

On July 5th, Governor Parson signed 15 bills into law. They included SB 592, an omnibus elections bill that streamlines Missouri’s election laws; SB 773, which changes several provisions relating to taxation, and SB 743, an omnibus elementary and secondary education act pertaining to modifications of the school calendar and other provisions.

Governor Parson had previously signed the FY2019 budget bills, which included funding for improved infrastructure, curbing opioid abuse, providing a needed step in lifting state employee pay, and stabilizing higher education budgets. Included in the budget was $6.3 million for Alternatives to Abortion funding, $8.4 million for Early Childhood Special Education, and a $12 million increase in available school transportation funding. 

The total state budget is $28.6 billion. In addition, the governor issued 21 line-item vetoes, totaling more than $12 million.
