Greitens Proposes Increased Funding for Alternatives to Abortion and A+ Scholarships

This week, Governor Eric Greitens unveiled his proposed budget for the coming fiscal year. The budget proposes an increase in funding for the Alternatives to Abortion program in the amount of $638,356, a roughly 10 percent increase. He also proposed an increase in funding for the A+ scholarship program of $3.5 million.

The budget includes cuts to higher education, Medicaid, and the Department of Corrections. These cuts to funding are concerning. The governor’s proposals must be approved by the Missouri General Assembly before they become law, and are likely to face challenges as the budget process unfolds.
