This week the Missouri House approved the budget bills. Included in HB 2005 are more funds for the Alternatives to Abortion (ATA) program. The funding in the bill allocates $2,083,561 for ATA services and $75,000 for an Alternatives to Abortion public awareness program. In addition to the MCC, a special thanks in this effort goes to Sam Lee of Campaign Life and Abram Messer, who represents the Alliance for Life of Missouri.
The next hurdle will be protecting the ATA funding increase when the Senate Budget Committee considers HB 2005. The key to this effort will be obtaining the support of Budget Chair Kurt Schaefer (R-Columbia). It is not too early to contact Senator Schaeffer to urge his support for the ATA funding. Here is his contact information.
