October is breast cancer awareness month, and for good reason. Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in the U.S. in women ages 20-59! According to the American Cancer Society, about one in eight women will develop breast cancer at some time in her life. 211,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed annually, and over 40,000 die from the disease.
But does abortion increase a woman’s risk for breast cancer? Janet Daling, Ph.D. at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle made such a finding in 1994.
Other epidemiological studies have also raised the issue, as this site reveals. You can read more here.
The question of whether abortion causes breast cancer is charged with political and social overtones, particularly in the Western world. Pray for an end to abortion and for those who suffer from breast cancer, regardless of the cause!
