Melissa Varner, MCC Communications Director, and Tyler McClay, MCC General Counsel joined in the pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., for the 2012 March for Life. This was the first time either of them attended the March.
“I was impressed by the faithfulness to the cause of the people who attended the march,” said Varner. “Older people with canes, families with young children, and people who have faithfully done this for more than a decade came despite the awful weather and difficult economic times.”
“The large Catholic presence was evident,” said McClay. “Everywhere I turned, I saw banners announcing this Catholic diocese or that Catholic school.”
It is hard to know exactly how many people showed up for the March, but some say that the number exceeded 400,000. For a slideshow of the March and more reflections on the event, read our other article.
