This week, the MCC joined other pro-life organizations in testifying in support of a bill to extend a tax credit for pregnancy resource centers in the state. Sponsored by Rep. Shane Schoeller (R-Willard), HB 1435 would remove 2012 as the sunset date for the $2 million tax credit. Without passage of the bill this year, individuals who donate to the pregnancy resource centers in the state would not be eligible to claim a tax credit for their contribution. If passed, the credit would not be time limited in the future.
Efforts to extend the tax credit last year fell short when the issue became entangled with the larger debate on state tax credits. Passing the bill this session is a priority with the major state pro-life organizations.
