Pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) and food pantries this week benefited when the House Children and Families Committee voted “Do Pass” HCS HB 1278 & 1152, a bill that would continue tax credits for charitable donations made to these entities. The bill reauthorizes the tax credits for these programs until 2016. Under the House committee substitute, the total state tax credit allowed for each entity is two million dollars. Tax credits for PRCs and food pantries are popular with legislators however they have become entangled in the large debate about tax credits in general. The bill will now move to the floor for future debate.
