Missouri Supreme Court Rejects Challenges to Initiative Petitions

The Missouri Supreme Court this week rejected legal challenges to initiative petition drives that would cap the rate on payday loans at 36 percent, increase the minimum wage to $8.25 per hour, and increase sales taxes on tobacco products. The Missouri Secretary of State must now certify that the signatures collected in support of the measures are valid in order for them to appear on the November ballot. The MCC will provide more information on these ballot proposals in the weeks to come.
