MO Transportation Secretary Warns of Worker Shortage in Event of Major Snowstorm

During a budget hearing this week, MODOT Secretary Patrick McKenna warned he would be short snowplow drivers in the event Missouri gets hit with a statewide snowstorm this season. Citing low state wages and a corresponding difficulty in finding commercial truck drivers, McKenna told lawmakers in Jefferson City that MODOT’s response to a major snowstorm would likely be below MO residents’ expectations.  

The Missouri General Assembly recently began work on the state budget for FY 2019 and is holding hearings to gather information from state agencies and others on their funding needs for the coming fiscal year.
