Just after midnight, ringing in the last day of the session, the Missouri legislature passed HB 1288, a bill that extends the sunset date on maternity home and pregnancy resource center tax credits another six years. HB 1288 is sponsored by Rep. Kevin Engler (R-Farmington). These credits allow those making donations to these organizations to claim a 50 percent state tax credit, allowing the centers to raise more money and provide greater care for women facing crisis pregnancies. The bill also increases the cap on these credits from $2.5 million to $3.5 million. The bill now moves to the governor’s desk for his signature.
