U.S. Secretary of State Hosts World Forum on Religious Liberty

The U.S. State Department this week held a forum on religious liberty, highlighting the importance of religious liberty to well-being and economic development throughout the world. The forum, called The Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, convened “a broad range of stakeholders, including foreign ministers, international organization representatives, religious leaders, and civil society representatives, to discuss challenges, identify concrete ways to combat religious persecution and discrimination, and ensure greater respect for religious freedom for all.”

Speaking to Vatican News before the event, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that the Catholic Church has an important role to play in advancing this cause.
