Valid Signatures at Issue in Payday Lending, Minimum Wage Initiatives

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan announced this week that not enough valid signatures were collected for initiative petitions relating to payday lending and the minimum wage. If sufficient voter signatures had been certified by election officials, the proposals would have appeared on the November election ballot. Proponents plan to appeal the decision. They contend that many valid signatures were incorrectly thrown out.
