The 2014 legislative session marked the passage of several significant pro-life bills. The Missouri General Assembly passed and sent to Governor Nixon a bill expanding the waiting period for having an abortion from the current 24-hour period to 72-hours. Another bill increased the tax credits available when people donate to pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes. There was a major increase in the funding for the Alternatives to Abortion program in Missouri.
Finally on the last day of the session, lawmakers passed the Show-Me Healthy Babies program, which provides health coverage to more unborn children and assistance to expectant mothers, along with improvements in transporting cord blood to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.
