Adult Adoptees to Get Access to Original Birth Certificates

Beginning in January 2018, adult adoptees 18 years of age or older who were adopted as children will be able to access their original birth certificate through the Missouri Department of Health.

Birth mothers and fathers wishing to maintain their confidentiality can do so by filling out a Contact Preference Form with the Missouri Bureau of Vital Records.  The forms are available on the Bureau’s website and can be filled out at any time.

The MCC is asking its network members to spread the word about this change in the law. To learn more about the Adoptee Rights Act, contact the MCC or visit this site.
