Cardinal DiNardo Issues Op-ed on HHS Mandate

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), issued a statement, published as an op-ed in The Hill questioning the Trump Administration’s failure to address concerns raised by the U.S. Bishops about the contraceptive mandate and its impact on social service providers, like the Little Sisters of the Poor.

The Trump Administration had indicated back in May that a resolution to the concerns raised would be forthcoming in the near future. However, three months later no resolution has been offered. DiNardo said, “It is now time for the administration to take the next steps in the process of ensuring that the Little Sisters, and all those who seek to abide by their religious beliefs or moral convictions, would be able to continue to serve their fellow citizens in accordance with their consciences.”
