Catholic Athletes Earn Gold in Rio

Simone Biles, Olympic gymnast, and Katie Ledecky, Olympic swimmer, have already earned gold medals during this year’s Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, putting them in the spotlight as two to watch on team USA for years to come. They’re in the spotlight in this week’s Update, though, because these two gold medalists on team USA aren’t just representing their country well during this year’s Olympics, they’re also proudly representing their Catholic faith. During an interview with a news publication, Biles told reporters that she keeps a rosary in her gym bag, and Ledecky said she says a Hail Mary before each swim.
