Catholic South Korean President Seeks Help from Holy See

Concerned about the threat to peace brought about by nuclear North Korea, South Korean President Moon Jae-in has sought help from the Holy See. A devout Catholic and the son of North Korean refugees, Moon requested help from the Vatican shortly after his election in May through the Korean Bishops’ Conference. Moon has offered peace by guaranteeing North Korea’s safety and constructing a permanent peace system to ensure the co-existence of the two nations that share the Korean peninsula.
