Death Penalty Audit Bill Sees Action in Senate

For several years Senator Joe Keaveny (D-St. Louis) has been promoting legislation that would require the state auditor to conduct a study of the costs related to the death penalty in Missouri. This week, during Tuesday’s floor debate, Senator Keaveny offered the language of SB 240, the audit legislation, as an amendment to SB 203, legislation relating to the authority of the state auditor’s office. The amendment was accepted by a voice vote and SB 203 requires one more vote to move to the House.
