Federal Court Issues Order in Favor of Planned Parenthood

Kansas City Federal District Court Judge Howard Sachs has issued a final order striking down two provisions of Missouri law enacted to protect women seeking abortions. The order strikes down a Missouri law requiring an abortionist to have clinical privileges within 30 miles of the abortion facility, and a Missouri law requiring abortion facilities meet the requirements of an ambulatory surgery center.

Judge Sachs also directed the state to act quickly to process any license applications made by Planned Parenthood for additional clinics. Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley has promised to appeal the ruling the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. The MCC expects Planned Parenthood to move quickly to begin offering abortions in Kansas City and Columbia.
