During the consideration of the state budget in the Missouri House, State Representative Noel Torpey (R-Independence) lamented the lack of action to reform Medicaid in this year’s session, “Whether you think the Affordable Care Act is the greatest thing since slice bread or you think it’s a train wreck, it’s the law of the land. We in Missouri have a chance to make a bad law a little better.”
The MCC has supported Medicaid reform that would make the program efficient while providing health coverage to working families. With one week remaining in the session, the chances of passing Medicaid reform appear to be slipping away-a missed opportunity for our state and the working poor in our midst.
