ISIS War on Middle East Christians is “Genocide”

The U.S. House of Representatives voted, and the U.S. Department of State declared the ISIS war on Middle East Christians and other ethnic groups “genocide.”  The declarations have no immediate legal effect, but could spur additional military support for Christians and others struggling to survive in parts of Syria, Iraq, and other areas under siege by the extremist group.  

Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, President of the USCCB, and the Knights of Columbus had called for such a declaration. Donald Cardinal Wuerl, the Archbishop of the District of Columbia, praised the decision of the Department of State. Read more here.
