Join Your Voice with Civic and Religious Leaders Asking for Clemency

This week civic and religious leaders, including the Catholic bishops of Missouri, sent a clemency letter to Governor Nixon asking that he show mercy to Leon Taylor and commute his sentence to life in prison without parole.

Aside from issues of racial disparity in the case (see above article) the letter also mentions Taylor’s rehabilitation and faith conversion as he is very active in the prison Christian community and is a role model for other inmates.  After his conversion, Taylor reached out to the widow of his victim, expressing his deep sorrow and regret for his actions.  She accepted his apology and has forgiven him.

Please join your voice with others across the state and ask Governor Nixon to show mercy to Leon Taylor. Contact Governor Nixon by calling 573-751-3222 or by clicking here.
