Kansas City federal district court Judge Beth Phillips has denied Planned Parenthood’s request for a temporary restraining order that would block implementation of Missouri’s new abortion law. She ruled that Planned Parenthood did not present sufficient evidence to show that their clients would be harmed if the request for such an order was denied.
Judge Phillips’ ruling means that abortions will not resume in Columbia, Springfield, or Joplin as expected. The case is not over; Planned Parenthood may later be able to show evidence in support of their case. But for now, pro-lifers have obtained a victory in preventing abortions being performed anywhere other than St. Louis and Kansas City for the time being. Keep praying for a successful defense of this important pro-life legislation!
