Lenten Recipes

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday next week, and with it comes the meatless Friday’s Catholics are used to observing each year during the Lenten season. For those who are used to a carnviorous diet, it can be difficult to think of a meatless main course to throw together. We’re here to help you out. Each week we’ll send a delicious recipe or two  in Update for you and your family to enjoy. 

This week we’ve chosen a recipe for Fat Tuesday, as well a couple for the first Friday of Lent. 

Gumbo is a traditional southern delight, and it’s great for keeping you warm during the cold Missouri winters. Enjoy this gumbo recipe from Saveur magazine. 

For Friday the 12th, try this baked penne dish. It’s sure to be a hearty and filling alternative to a meat lasagna. 

For dessert, try this dairy-free chocolate cake. (It’s almost as easy as a boxed cake!)
