This week the MCC urged state legislators to take action to both reform and expand Medicaid, the joint federal-state program that provides health coverage to the poor. In the letter the MCC stated that: “Each person as a creature of God has a right to basic healthcare; at the same time, individuals and families are called to care for their own health. Properly structured, Medicaid reform will place as much responsibility on individuals as is reasonable, but recognize when people need assistance from others.” To read the full text, click letter.
The most recent MCC Good News addresses the elements needed for both reform and expansion of Medicaid. While the public is becoming more aware of the opportunities presented by Medicaid reform, legislation in the general assembly has stirred debate but little forward movement.
