Missouri Senate Committee Hears Pro-Life Bills

The Missouri Senate Committee on Seniors, Families and Children heard numerous pro-life bills this week that address pregnancy resource centers and abortion clinics.  SB 67, sponsored by Sen. Bob Onder (R-St. Charles), would require that all fetal tissue from abortions be submitted for a pathological analysis and a certification by the pathologist that the tissue has been disposed of in accord with Missouri law.

Other bills heard would protect the first amendment rights of pregnancy resource centers (SB 41), prohibit abortions performed solely based upon the sex or race of the child, or if the child has Downs Syndrome (SB 96), and require any person referring a woman for an abortion out of state to provide the written material concerning abortion proscribed by Missouri law (SB 230).

The MCC testified in support of these bills and will be reporting on their progress as they make their way through the General Assembly.  Stay tuned.
