Physician Assisted Suicide to Appear on Ballot in Colorado

A referendum on assisted suicide will appear on the ballot in Colorado next month. The Colorado Catholic Conference, the public policy agency of the Catholic Church in Colorado, is pulling out all the stops to oppose the measure, including pointing out the flawed nature of the proposal in television ads being run throughout the state.

California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Vermont have legalized assisted suicide. The practice is being aggressively pushed by advocates who claim it offers compassionate choices to suffering patients. However, these measures fail to relieve suffering, eliminating the patient rather than their suffering.

Assisted suicide bills have been filed in Missouri the last two years, but have yet to gain any traction. Read more about the status of assisted suicide efforts throughout the U.S. and how this practice is playing out in people’s lives.
