Pope Begins Campaign in Support of Refugees

This week, Pope Francis announced the start of the “Share the Journey” Campaign to raise awareness of the plight of migrants and refugees, currently estimated to number 65 million worldwide. The campaign will be coordinated by the Vatican along with Caritas Internationalis, the Church’s international aid organization.

In the U.S., the campaign will be joined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), along with Catholic Charities USA, and Catholic Relief Services. Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, president of the USCCB, stated that “The Pope is asking us to pray and reflect and to use the awareness we build to take action, both personally and publically. To our Church, this campaign is an embodiment of the Biblical command to love our neighbor.”
