Pro-life Bills Poised for Further Debate in Senate

The MCC has been reporting on two pro-life bills that have received significant debate time on the Senate floor. SB 41, sponsored by Senator Wayne Wallingford (R-Cape Girardeau), would pre-empt a local ordinance recently passed in St. Louis purporting to make the city an abortion sanctuary. SB 67, sponsored by Senator Bob Onder (R-St. Charles), would make it unlawful for prospective mothers to donate fetal tissue from an elective abortion and would also ensure that any fetal tissue from an abortion is sent for pathological review and proper disposal.

These bills remain on the Senate Perfection Calendar and are poised for further debate and action. The legislative session ends on May 12th, and there is still time for these bills to pass before that time. Stay tuned for further information about these two important pro-life bills in the coming weeks.
