This week the Missouri Senate gave final approval to SCS SB 693 and SB 647, combined bills sponsored by Senator Gary Romine (R-Farmington) and Senator Scott Sifton (D-Affton), that would increase the cap on four benevolent tax credits that benefit the needy, including the hungry, women facing crisis pregnancies, and at-risk youth. The legislation would increase the amount of tax credits available for pregnancy resource centers, food pantries, maternity homes, and programs benefiting youth at risk. The legislation now moves to the House for final consideration. The MCC supports this bill as these tax credits encourage increased private donations to programs that benefit those in need, often through volunteer efforts at the local level.
