Pro-Life advocates gathered at the Missouri Capitol on Tuesday for the “Show Me Life” pro-life action day. Hundreds of people flooded the Capitol to show their support and commitment to life. Pro-life supporters lobbied their representatives and senators, speaking to them about key pieces of pro-life legislation. The MCC distributed information on pro-life legislation and urged people to speak to their legislators. During the rally, many legislators spoke briefly about the importance to the dedication of protecting life. Representative, and former nurse, Kathy Swan (R-Cape Girardeau) spoke about the importance of HB 190
, which would require the Missouri Department of Health to conduct annual inspections of all clinics in Missouri that perform abortions. In a recent inspection at a Missouri abortion clinic, 14 pages of violations were found, proving the need for such legislation. “I found these violations not only appalling but also extremely unacceptable by nursing standards,” Swan said.
The keynote speaker, Carol Tobias, President of National Right to Life, applauded Missouri on having such a commitment to life and being dedicated to protecting the life of the innocent. “Missouri has a long history of trying to protect unborn children and their mothers, I thank you for that,” Tobias said.
Thank you to all of those who made the trip to Jefferson City to show your commitment to life!
