U.S. Bishops Offer Guidance on 2016 Election

The U.S. Catholic Bishops do not endorse or oppose candidates for political office, but every four years they offer guidance for the reflection of Catholic citizens preparing to vote in the presidential election. The 2016 guidance, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, stresses the fundamental obligation of government to protect the sanctity and dignity of all human life: “At the center of these truths is respect for the dignity of every person.” A variety of issues are explored including pro-life, immigration, healthcare and education.
