U.S Bishops Oppose Loss of Health Care Access

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is urging Congress to protect the most vulnerable citizens in its revamping of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Bishop Frank Dewane of Venice, Florida, chairman of the bishops’ Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development, said that “the loss of affordable health access for millions of people is simply unacceptable.” The bishop urged the U.S. Senate to work in “an open and unified way” in crafting health care legislation.
