A U.S. official visiting Rome said this past week that the door is closing for Christians living in Iraq. Knox Thames, the U.S. Department of State’s Special Advisor for Religious Minorities in the Near East and South and Central Asia, made the comments during a press conference.
Mr. Thames emphasized Secretary of State John Kerry’s proclamation of the treatment of Christians in the Middle East by groups such as ISIS as “genocide,” and reiterated the administration’s support for Christians living there. Prayer for persecuted Christians around the globe, but especially in the Middle East, should be an emphasis for the Fortnight for Religious Freedom. You can read more here.
