U.S. Sen. Blunt Attempts to Introduce Amendment Eliminating Abortion-Drug Mandate

U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt tried to introduce an amendment yesterday to a highway funding bill to eliminate the Obama administration’s abortion-drug mandate. Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) blocked the move, saying Republicans need to “calm down” about the issue until a final rule comes out and that debate was “senseless” until then.

In his speech on the Senate floor, Sen. Blunt said “This bill would just simply say that those health care providers don’t have to follow that mandate if it violates their faith principles, and whether it’s faith principles that are part of a health care delivery system that could be through any number of different faith groups – and I’ve talked to a lot of them.”
