The General Assembly meets for its veto session onSeptember 14, and signs point to lawmakers overriding Governor Nixon’s veto of gun legislation. The legislation removes the requirement to obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon and thereby eliminates any required training to lawfully conceal and carry. A recent Kansas City Star article reports that Senator Ryan Silvey, a Republican from Kansas City who most consider a moderate, plans to vote for the override.
