Why is the MCC 50th Anniversary Celebration Not at the State Capitol?

Since registration for the MCC’s 50th Anniversary Celebration opened, we have been receiving questions from MOCAN members who are wondering why the MCC 50th Anniversary celebration is being held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City instead of the State Capitol.

Keep in mind that this event is different from our usual Annual Assembly. The celebration at the Cathedral is a recognition of 50 years of the faithful work done by the Missouri Catholic Conference and its network of Catholic citizens. To commemorate this occasion, there will be many “upgrades” throughout the usual event schedule. Among these are a sit-down banquet-style meal, a short film chronicling the history of the conference, and 50th Anniversary memorabilia. Our keynote speaker is the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Christophe Pierre, and our workshops will be led by the likes of the vice president of Catholic Relief Services, along with other prominent speakers.

In short, this is not your typical Annual Assembly, and so the Cathedral was deemed a more appropriate space for this anniversary celebration. Please come and join us for this grand celebration; you can register at mocatholic.org, or by calling our office at (800) 456-1679.
