Will the Missouri Senate Pass Abortion 72-Hour Waiting Period Bill?

With only one week left in the 2014 Missouri legislative session, the question remains whether the Missouri Senate will vote on and pass the 72-hour waiting period bill.  HB 1307, sponsored by Representative Kevin Elmer (R-Nixa), and being handled in the Senate by Senator David Sater (R-Cassville), would increase Missouri’s waiting period for having an abortion from 24 to 72 hours.

HB 1307 was taken up and debated this week for about three hours. Unfortunately, opponents of the bill offered various amendments in an effort to prevent a final vote on the bill.  Will the bill be filibustered, or will it come to a vote and be approved?  Contact your Senator and encourage him/her to bring the bill to a vote.
